Teenage debutant Marcus Rashford helped fire Manchester United past Midtjylland on a night when Valencia heaped more misery on Rapid Wien and Basel scored at the death to take their place in the UEFA Europa League round of 16.
Beaten 2-1 in the first leg, United fell further behind to Pione Sisto's opener, equalised on the night through Nikolay Bodurov's own goal and then squandered the chance to level the aggregate scores when Juan Mata had a penalty saved before the break.
Step forward Manchester-born striker Rashford, promoted to the starting XI after Anthony Martial sustained an injury in the warm-up. The 18-year-old showcased his predatory instincts – becoming a fans' favourite in the process – by netting twice in 12 second-half minutes at the Stretford End. Ander Herrera, from the spot, and Memphis Depay added further gloss to the scoreline for the hosts, who progressed 6-3 overall.
Get in! Varela chips an excellent cross to Rashford at the far post and the youngster confidently fires home a half-volley. #mufc

Valencia – coached by former United right-back Gary Neville – ran out 4-0 victors in the Austrian capital, all of the goals coming in the second half. Their 10-0 aggregate triumph over Rapid is the biggest in the history of the competition.
Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur comprehensively avenged their loss to Fiorentina at this stage last term while Luca Zuffi's last-gasp strike (his second of the night) sent final hosts Basel through on away goals at St-Étienne's expense.
